Let Us Never Forget Who We've Lost on the Way

 Sunday night I went to bed and fell into a deep sleep. I started dreaming, when into my dreams appeared my Dad. He often does when he wants to tell me something, and this dream was no different. He told me that I would be involved in Alzheimer's this year. I woke wondering what he meant. I had my memory tested at the end of 2020 and all the tests and scans showed no signs of the disease so I wasn't worried that I was developing it. It wasn't long before I understood what he meant. I was checking my email when I saw one from Alzheimer's Research UK, informing me that I could join their team for the Virtual London Marathon 2021. I straight away signed up and now I face the daunting task of two marathons in a matter of weeks!!! Well, Dad, you were right, I am involved with Alzheimer's this year and my training has began!! 

Dear Bob,  I am so proud to be your son. Dad, you brought me up to lead a life of service. You gave me the courage to always ask why, how, why not. You have me the confidence to travel the world. You continue to inspire me and get me to push myself to dream bigger, be better and do whatever I can for others.  Dear Mum, Mum, you taught me that family is the most important thing. You devoted so much of your life to the service of others. I know you were both taken too soon and in such a cruel way. I know that you are now in a much better place. I still think about both of you every day and often you come through to me in my dreams or I feel your presence.  Bob, Jan you are missed so much but your love is still felt all the time.  Your Son Andy

 This blog is a place where we can all share memories of our loved ones. For me it is about my Parents who I lost to Alzheimer's. I never want to forget their memories, even though, ironically that is what happened to them:( I hope that by sharing memories we can all feel some love and inspiration that we are not alone and that we all matter.
